GP & CEDR Accredited Mediator
MBChB (Glas.) MRCGP (2013) DRCOG DFSRH LL.Dip (ULaw)

Clare is a practising GP in West Sussex, working six sessions a week with a clinical focus on family planning and reproductive health. Alongside her medical practice, she is a fully insured, CEDR-accredited mediator with over six years of experience in mediation. She earned a distinction-level law degree while continuing her work as a GP, further strengthening her expertise in resolving complex professional disputes.

For five years, Clare served as a Medical Director for Local Medical Committees, advising and supporting GPs across the South of England. A significant part of this role involved providing practical guidance to GPs, practice managers, partnerships, and PCNs navigating disputes, giving her deep insight into the challenges faced in primary care.

She is an ex-officio member of the BMA’s England GP Committee as Chair of the Conference of England LMCs.

Mediation Expertise

Clare specialises exclusively in GP Partnership and PCN disputes, drawing on both her extensive experience from her LMC roles and over six years as a mediator. With a deep understanding of general practice, legal frameworks, and regulatory challenges, she provides an informed and structured approach to resolving disputes.

Her recent mediations have included:

✔ The negotiation of a partner's retired from a partnership, with or without a valid partnership agreement.

✔ The terms of a PCN split.
✔ The buy-out of a property-owning ex-partner.
✔ The dissolution of a partnership and the handing back of the GMS contract.
✔ A behavioural agreement between partners wishing to continue working together.

A Comprehensive Approach to Mediation

Clare offers a full mediation service, including:

✔ Unlimited preparatory phone calls, online meetings, and emails with all parties and their legal representatives if necessary.
✔ A full 8-hour mediation day (face-to-face or remote via Microsoft Teams).
✔ The drafting of a mediation agreement and, where parties do not have legal representation, the drafting of settlement agreement and distribution of signed copies.

Next Steps

Clare offers free, no-obligation discussions with individuals or their legal representatives to explore whether mediation is the right approach for their situation. Those unsure about how mediation works or whether it could benefit their case are encouraged to reach out for a confidential conversation.
